A palisade fence is vertical steel pales bolted to horizontal rails on concreted posts, galvanised and usually powder-coated, typically up to around 3m. The variables that matter are the pale profile — W-section is the heavier, more rigid option, D-section the lighter — the gauge, and the top detail, with triple-point tops used where climbing is the main risk.
It suits yards, depots, substations, industrial units and any perimeter where a hard, visible deterrent is the point. Palisade announces itself, which is often exactly the deterrent effect the site wants; welded mesh is the better answer where you need through-visibility for cameras or maximum cut-resistance instead.
Because palisade is heavy, the foundations are not optional. Posts go into concrete at a depth set by the height and the wind load, and gate posts heavier again because every swing puts leverage on them. That groundwork is the difference between a perimeter that stands for decades and one that starts leaning within a couple of winters.
